What Happens on a PlusCode Exploration Call?

By PlusCode

If you've ever reached out to a web company and immediately felt like you'd stepped into a sales funnel, you're not alone. A lot of first conversations in this industry feel like a pitch waiting to happen. You brace yourself for the hard close before you've even finished your coffee.

Our first call isn't that. Let's discuss exactly what it is, what happens on it, and what doesn't, so that if you're thinking about reaching out, you know what you're saying yes to.

We call it an Exploration and Alignment Call. Thirty minutes, over Google Meet, no cost, no pressure. Here's what it's actually for.

It's a conversation, not a pitch

The whole point of this call is to get to know each other. That's it.

I want to learn about you and your business. You want to figure out whether PlusCode is the kind of company you'd trust with something as important as your website. Both of those things happen best in a normal conversation, not a presentation. So that's what this is. You talking, me listening, both of us asking questions.

By the end, we'll both have a much clearer sense of whether this is a fit. Sometimes the answer is a happy yes. Sometimes it's "you know what, here's someone who'd serve you better." Either way, you'll leave the call with more clarity than you came in with, and that's the goal.

What we'll actually talk about

I don't run these calls off a rigid script, but there are a handful of things we'll usually cover in half an hour.

We'll get to know you and your business. Who you are, what you do, who you serve. The stuff that makes your business yours.

We'll talk about what prompted you to reach out. Something got you here. A site that's embarrassing you, a business that's outgrown its current presence, a launch on the horizon, a competitor who's pulling ahead. Knowing what's actually driving this helps more than anything else.

We'll look at where you are now. Your current website and how you show up online today. What's working, what isn't, what's frustrating you.

We'll talk about your goals and your challenges. Where you're trying to go, and what's been getting in the way of getting there.

I'll give you an overview of how PlusCode works. So you understand our process, our approach, and what working together would actually look like.

And I'll answer your questions. Whatever you've got. Pricing, timeline, how we work, how we're different. Ask away.

What won't happen

Just as important, here's what this call is not.

You won't get a hard sell. I'm not going to pressure you to sign anything on a 30-minute call. That's not how good decisions get made and it's not how I work.

You won't need to prepare a thing. No homework, no documents, no filling out a long form first. Just show up and talk. If you happen to have thoughts about what you want, great. If you're still figuring it out, that's great too, that's literally what the call is for.

You won't walk away owing anything. It's free, and there's no obligation on the other side of it. If we're not a fit, we shake hands (virtually) and part as friends.

Why we do it this way

Some companies skip straight to a quote. You fill out a form, they email you a number, done. I understand the appeal, it's fast. But I think it gets the whole thing backwards.

A website isn't a commodity you buy off a shelf. It's something built for a specific business, for specific customers, to solve specific problems. I can't do that well for someone I've never talked to, and you can't confidently hire someone you've never talked to either. The conversation isn't a hurdle on the way to the real work. It's the beginning of the real work.

It also just reflects how we operate. We start every project by listening, so it makes sense that we start every relationship the same way. The Exploration Call is the first small taste of what working with us actually feels like.

Ready to talk?

If you've read this far, you probably already have a sense of whether you'd like to have this conversation. If you would, I'd love to have it.

You can reach me directly at 734-249-8028 or dave@pluscodedesign.com, or book a time that works for you and we'll hop on Google Meet for 30 minutes. No pressure, no prep, no sales trap. Just a good conversation about your business and whether we're the right people to help with it.

Looking forward to meeting you.
