Thank You, Original Gravity

By PlusCode

I'm writing this from the patio at Original Gravity Brewing Company. Red umbrellas overhead, a fire pit and a little tree off to the side, picnic tables stretched across the concrete, blue sky doing its thing. I came here to get some work done, but mostly I came here to say thank you.

Original Gravity has been a customer of mine since 2018. I wanted to take a minute to digitally say what that means to me.

Eight years

Eight years is a long time to trust someone with a piece of your business.

In that stretch, a lot of things have come and gone. Software platforms I used to swear by don't exist anymore. Plenty of businesses around us have opened and closed. And here we are, Original Gravity and PlusCode, still working together, still pouring good beer and building good websites, still showing up for each other.

That kind of loyalty isn't something I take for granted. When a customer stays with you that long, it stops being a vendor arrangement and turns into something closer to friendship. You've trusted me with your website, your online presence, the first impression a lot of your customers get before they ever walk through your door. That's not a small thing to hand to someone. I've never forgotten that you handed it to me.

So thank you

Thank you for sticking with me since 2018.

Thank you for being the kind of customer who picks up the phone, talks things through, and trusts me to do right by you.

Thank you for building a place that's genuinely good to be in. I could have written this post from my office in Milan. Instead I walked out here, ordered lunch, found a spot under the umbrellas, and got more done in an afternoon than I usually do all day. A good patio will do that.

And thank you for being part of the reason I love this work. When I started PlusCode, I thought I was getting into the website business. Turns out I'm in the people business, and the websites are just how I get to be part of other people's stories. Yours has been one of my favorites to be part of.

To everyone else

If you've never been to Original Gravity, go. The beer is great, the patio is great, and you'll be supporting a local business that's been doing it right for years. Tell Brad (the owner) I said Hi!

And if you run a business with a partner, a vendor, or a supplier who's been good to you for a long time, take a minute to tell them so. Loyalty like that is rare, and it's worth saying out loud.

Here's to the next eight years. The next round's on me.
