Help your visitors read your content

By PlusCode

Most people do not think about how to help their visitors read your content. Essentially it's content design. I have compiled some ideas that you can try from your about page to your recent blog post:

  1. Use headings and subheadings: People are always scanning to find the most valuable info. Use headings and subheadings to break up the text and make it easier to scan. This will help readers quickly understand the structure of your content and find the information they need.

  2. Use bullet points and numbered lists: Use bullet points and numbered lists to make it easier for readers to quickly scan and understand your content.

  3. Use white space effectively: Leave plenty of white space around your text to make it easier to read. Avoid cramming too much text onto a single page. White space can be used to separate thoughts. When you are done with one topic, show the reader. This is why bullets and paragraphs are so effective.

  4. Use a clear and legible font: Choose a font that is easy to read, such as Arial, Calibri, or Verdana. Avoid using fancy or decorative fonts that are difficult to read.

  5. Use appropriate font sizes: Make sure the text on your webpage is large enough to be easily readable, but not so large that it takes up too much space. A good rule of thumb is to use a font size of 16 pixels or larger for body text.

  6. Use high-contrast colors: Choose colors that have good contrast, such as black or dark grey text on a white background, to make it easier for readers to see and read your content. Remember to check your text that is over background images.

  7. Use responsive design: Make sure your webpage is optimized for different devices and screen sizes. This will ensure that your content is easy to read on all devices. We have seen some websites with as high as 90% of their traffic being mobile.

Save this page for the next time you need to write content for your website. This will help you to be more understood and connect with your customers.
